Daisy E. 2020-2021 Student Library Ambassador, 8th Congressional District. North Carolina Library Advocacy.

Get to know Daisy…
I’m 10 years old, I’m in 4th grade and I’m homeschooled. I really enjoy writing, reading, sewing, playing piano, swimming and art. This year, during the pandemic, I got a puppy named Ruthie. I named her after a character in a book called Really, Truly Ruthie. When she’s not chasing squirrels and birds we love to swim and hike by rivers and creeks.

What made you interested in being a library ambassador?
I want people to know libraries help us all learn, be inspired, have new experiences, and read as many books as we like!

Would you like to give a shout out to your home library?
Yes! My home library is the Concord Library in Cabarrus County. I loved story time with Miss Angela when I was little and Open Mic Night with Miss Shannon Beamon has been encouraging me to share my writing and write with more detail.

What is your earliest library memory?
I remember searching for books about ballet when I was 3 or 4. I also loved dancing with scarves during story time.

Favorite Book?
I love Anne of Green Gables. One of my dreams is to visit Prince Edward Island, Canada one day!

What do you love about libraries?
I love that there are so many books that you can check out. There are so many that I could never read them all! I also love all the library programs. I’ve been able to learn coding at the library, watch a trapeze artist, look at stars in a planetarium, and see an owl up close at the library.

What do you want legislators to know about libraries?
Libraries have helped me learn and grow and they inspire me to write my own stories. Library programs help me and other kids learn about things we would never have known or been able to experience on our own.
