The Importance of Libraries
“Seeing all these people, young and old, depending on the library, really shows that if you take away the library, you take away the community. I have to say I am one of those people of North Carolina who depend on the library. I can’t explain how much the people of North Carolina and I love the library, but I know they have an importance in my community, and the library has an importance in my life.” (excerpt)
“My name is Lance Williams and I am going into the 8th grade at Bunn Middle School. I am an A honor role student and I play in the school band. Besides that, I am a member in the Junior Beta Club and am in the Bible study club. Outside of school, I am a TLC volunteer at the Wake County Public Library in Zebulon and help with the K-5th adventure program. I have clocked in over 110 hours of volunteer time at the library over my three summers helping there. When I am not volunteering at the library, I am usually spending my time at the Franklin County 4-H doing many activities. In the summer I attend almost all of the summer day camps and attend the My PI overnight camp and attend 4-H Congress. During the rest of the year I am part of the Franklin County 4-H Council and attend the Statewide 4-H Council. Besides all that, I am very happy to be a Library Advocate and am excited to see all that is in store to come with it.”
