Andre is a man in his early twenties and got a job shortly after graduating from high school. Unfortunately one day, Adre was laid off. To stay busy he would routinely visit the headquarters of the Halifax County Library System in Halifax to use our computers.
Andre was looking for a job. He was fairly computer literate, but needed two things: one, a computer upon which to work; and two, some confidence to complete his resume and more importantly to apply for specific jobs.
The staff answered Andre’s specific questions about applications and resumes. The staff, of course, did not want to become too personal with Andre, but we all tried to be upbeat about his efforts whenever we interacted with him.
Andre made a special trip to the library to tell us he had obtained a job at a nearby manufacturing plant. He thanked us and said, ” I could not have done it without your help.”
