Elizabeth Maple is an inspiring woman. She is in her seventies and she lives alone away from her children. She used to own a bookstore but has since retired. Elizabeth is also a cancer survivor; in the past year she has had another bout with cancer and chemo while simultaneously losing her husband.
The Library offered opportunities for Elizabeth to nurture her love of books and community through very difficult times.
Elizabeth is an inspiration because through all her hardships she has volunteered countless hours at the library helping to process books. She has been one of the most outstanding members of the Library book club and has become an avid computer student. She also helped to organize a book signing by her daughter, a talented new author.
The library has offered Elizabeth opportunities, but what she has given back is worth so much more. She has given this community HOPE.
Libraries change lives!
