Charlie was planning to renovate two old, abandoned, hosiery mill buildings to house a brewery, restaurant, event space, and office/retail space (a $30 million project).
He, along with the owners of the property, needed to do research for grant purposes on the history of the mill.
The Carolina Room at the Hickory Public Library houses a wealth of information on local history and genealogy. Staff members are experienced and skilled at helping with research questions. They were able to asssist this Charlie with information needed to complete a grant proposal.
The City voted to provide some matching funds. Though the project is currently in the beginning stages, owners are optimistic that it will soon become a reality.
Libraries are a smart investment!
