Here is an economic impact story from Mitchell County Public Library (10th District):
Susie retired from a local factory and being single she was not happy being at home. She started searching for part time jobs to help fill her time. Susie soon found out that she must fill her applications out online along with creating a personal e-mail account, but she did not own a computer and had never used one. Susie was a library patron and knew computers were available, so she asked the assistant librarian if she could show her how to fill out an application and create a personal e-mail, which she patiently did. Susie happily got the first job she applied for thanks to the help of her local public library staff. Susie made a point of letting us know how thankful she was for our help. Libraries change lives.
