A fascinating study was conducted in 2015 to measure the contributions of librarians to NC Community College student success. The study, “Community College Libraries & Librarians and Student Success,” was supported by grant funds from the Institute of Museum and Library Services under the provisions of the federal Library Services and Technology Act as administered by the State Library of North Carolina, a division of the Department of Natural and Cultural Resources. The results are in and show that libraries and librarians make a large impact on the lives and success of community college students. As one student said, “The library means a lot to me, but there is something special about the library, and it is not the books, the many computers that are inside, or even the ability to print …but it is the librarians—librarians who take the time to help a student succeed in his or her studies. Our librarians assist students with patience, knowledge, and respect.” Click here to see all the details yourself!
